MC Express basic navigation

MC Express was designed to let technicians navigate the robust functionality of Maintenance Connection easily and on-the-go. This article provides a brief reference guide to help you get your bearings in MC Express and begin using the application.

ClosedLog In to MC Express

To access MC Express on a mobile device:

  • Enter your Member ID and Password, and click Login.
  • If you have access to multiple databases/companies, you will need to choose the desired company before proceeding.

ClosedHome Page

Upon logging into MC Express, you will be navigated to the Home page. From here you can access any of the modules to which you have access rights.

  • Beneath each module heading, you can choose which filtered list you would like to access. To do so, simply tap/click the desired row on the Home page.
  • You can also take general action within each module by selecting the respective Action Dropdown Menus on the Home Page:

ClosedMain Menu and Global Search

You can access the main menu from anywhere in MC Express by selecting the menu button in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

  • The first option available in the main menu is the global search bar, from which you can search all records in the application. To execute a search, type a search value or use the scan button to scan a barcode and open the record for that item in the application.

  • The results matching your search will display, organized by module. Each module shows the number of records/items that match your search within that module. Tap/select a module header to see the results within that module.

In addition to global search, the following options are available from the main menu:

  • Home: Returns you to the Home page
  • Companies: Allows users who are members of multiple companies/databases to switch to a different company.
  • Settings: Allows you to change MC Express personal settings. Numerous options are available to tailor the MC Express user experience, including the ability to set default filters.
  • My Profile: Allows you to update your contact information, your labor photo, and your password.
  • Language: Allows you to set the default language displayed.
  • Help: Provides access to online help.
  • Log Out: Exits the application and closes down your MC Express session.

ClosedAction Dropdown Menus

Most headers in MC Express provide an accompanying action dropdown menu, allowing you to take action on the item selected. These menus contain general actions for their respective modules on the Home page.

These menus also display when you access specific records in the system, allowing you to take actions in respect to those items.

ClosedModule Pages

When you access a specific record in the system (work order, asset, part, and so on), additional pages related to that record display. These pages have a similar function to tabs in the Main Application (MRO). To view these pages, simply tap/select the desired option on the page. From here you can view and modify details about the record as needed.

ClosedField Options: Using Lookups and Barcodes

When you access records in MC Express, you can tap/select within a given field to add or modify a value. You can either type values manually, or for some fields you can access a lookup or use the barcoding options to assist you in adding the proper value to the field.

  • A magnifying glass indicates fields associated with a lookup. Tap/select the field label to access the associated lookup and select the desired record or value.
  • A camera scan indicates fields for which you can scan a barcode in order to input the desired value. These prompt you to scan a barcode using the native camera on your mobile device or the scanning product you use in conjunction with MC Express. If the system recognizes the scan, it will automatically input the proper value into the field.

ClosedBlue Action Buttons and the Back Arrow

Blue action buttons display at the bottom of the screen in MC Express. The options available differ based on the page you have accessed, but typically they allow you to save or apply changes you have made to a specific record.

In some areas, including the Home page, a blue Refresh button displays, allowing you to reload the MC Express application without logging out.

When you access specific records MC Express, a List button is available to return to the list from which you accessed the current page. So, if you're viewing a work order, the button will navigate you back to the work order list you from which you selecting the work order record. The same goes for the part and asset lists as well.

Finally, if you want to return to the previous page, in applicable areas use the blue back arrow button in the upper left-hand corner of the screen (rather than the Previous Page option on your browser).
